BODYGUARD™ Dog Repellent is designed to be sprayed outdoors to temporarily impair an aggressive dog from attacking people and their loved ones. This pepper- based formula is non toxic and has no harmful or long term impact. It can be carried walking, visiting dog parks, running on trails, and cycling in the city. It is also suitable for delivery personnel and animal care workers.

All dog repellent products are licensed for use by Health Canada under the PMRA and are completely legal when used for their intended purpose for use against aggressive and threatening dogs. Using these products for other than their intended purpose may result in criminal prosecution.

JULY 1992

BODYGUARD™ dog repellent was first registered.

1992-2000

BODYGUARD™ cone dog repellent 0.35% was produced and sold throughout Canada.

The cone spray pattern released in a fan shape to reach a wide area so that the user was not required to have good aim.

1995

DOG D’FENSE cone dog repellent was introduced in Canada, offering a stronger formulation of 0.44%.

2003

Changes with the producer of dog repellent required new applications for the trademark BODYGUARD™.

This prevented the sale of the product until the name could be approved.

2004

SPIKE™ cone dog repellent was introduced in Canada with a stronger formula of 0.50%.

2011

SPIKE^TMdog repellent changed from a cone spray to a stream spray pattern.

Stream was more effective year-round in Canadian temperatures, and the spray focused in a straight line instead of fanning out, to concentrate more of the product as it sprayed.

2012

BODYGUARD™ stream dog repellent returned to production as the trademark was finalized, to bring back the brand where it all began.

2020

Replaced plastic packaging with recyclable paper boxes.

Present

BODYGUARD™ stream dog repellent still offers the strongest formula permitted in Canada to this day.
